PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Barber Curriculum is designed to teach our students to be proficient in their craft by giving them hands-on experience throughout their coursework. Classic barbering techniques and the modern updates are covered in straight edge razoring, clipper cutting, scissor cutting, hot towel service and hair color techniques. In addition to these technical skills, professional development topics such as Ethics,Communication, Payment/Compensation, Licensing Requirements, Licensing Laws, Client Record-Keeping, safety and sanitation and the business of barbering are also part of the barbering curriculum. With the right skills and knowledge, our barber students will be equipped with the information needed to pass the state board exam and earn their barbering license.

Theory and Practical Course Material Covers the following:

  • Science: Infection Control, Chemistry, Electricity/Light Therapy, Anatomy, Physiology, Trichology
  • Hair Technique: Hairstyling, Hair Cutting & Shaping, Hair Coloring, Chemical Texture Services, Scalp Treatments, Hair Treatments
  • Other Techniques: Skin Care Treatments, Straight Edge Razor and Shaving Techniques
  • Professional Development: Ethics, Communication, Payment/Compensation, Licensing Requirements, Licensing Laws, Business Management, Client Record-Keeping

The Bureau of labor Statistics estimates that the overall employment of Barbers, Hairstylists, and Cosmetologists is projected to grow 10 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations.

Employment for Barbers is projected to grow 9 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. The need for Barbers will stem primarily from an increasing population, which will lead to greater demand for basic hair care services. If you’re considering becoming a Licensed Barber this could mean thousands of new jobs will be introduced this decade.

Barbers have a variety of career opportunities. They can work in an established Barbershop/Hair Salon or open his Barbershop/Hair Salon. Some Barbers can even become certified instructors and work in a Barber school to teach others their craft. Here are examples of job titles licensed Barbers may hold:
